If you are looking to visit a place with history, charm, good food, and nice people, Lisbon is the place for you. To this day, I still don’t think I have visited a place that is so perfectly blended as Lisbon is. Here are a few highlights of our trip!

Stay

The Airbnb we stayed in is still one of my favorite places I ever stayed in! It was located in the heart of the Alfama District (old town) which made it really easy to get to places on foot. We had a beautiful view of the Rio Tejo.

Eat

For a nice breakfast and coffee, head over to Copenhagen Coffee Lab.

For dinner, as long as you find a cafe with Fado music and Wine, you can’t lose. Along the streets of the Alfama District, you will find countless cafes and restaurants that will provide you with a real Portuguese experience, so just take your pick!

Do

As much as I loved the City of Lisbon, my actual favorite thing we did was take the train to the beachside town of Cascais. This city is about an hour train ride west of Lisbon.

Cascais is the dreamiest of beach towns. You can relax on the beach, eat some good seafood, and enjoy the sunset along the rocky coast. I promise you will never experience a better “golden hour” than the one this view offers.

Something I love about Lisbon is that there are so many things to do while avoiding having a “touristy” feel. There were a lot of people roaming the streets, but I never felt overwhelmed by tourists. Since our Airbnb was in the Alfama District, we spent most of our time there. Roaming the beautiful old cobblestones streets without a map is the best way to go! We shopped for some goodies at the Mercado de Santa Clara and enjoyed the live music along the streets of the shopping district.

Portugal, you are highly underestimated. I know this little post of mine doesn’t even come close to showing what you have to offer, but it’s a start. I promise you will get more attention from me in the near future!
